With
schools recommencing this week, it’s time to start organising teams for the annual Pitch and Putt Secondary Schools Competitions. The Munster and Leinster
finals will take place on the 11th of October in Riverdale Pitch and
Putt Club, Nenagh and Lucan Pitch and Putt Club, Dublin. Yet again, all teams
will consist of three players with each team having at least one PPUI member.
All three scores will count in the competition which is 36 holes Strokeplay.
The All-Ireland Competition will also take place in Lakeside, Templemore on
October 26th. The top 7 teams in both the Leinster and Munster
Competition will once again qualify for this.
Information and entry forms have been sent to all clubs and to schools that competed in previous years.
Qualifying was required in all counties last year as the number of competing schools was quite large. Once again we expect a large entry and therefore a qualifying round will be required. _The venues and dates for these qualifying rounds will be known a week in advance of the closing date and will be published on the PPUI website at that time. Schools will be informed of the final arrangements for these in days following the closing date. These one off qualifying rounds will take place between September 26th and October 4th. Under PPUI guidelines for this competition, at any stage – Qualifying, Provincial or All-Ireland – there must be a teacher or consented parent/guardian accompanying the team. Non accordance with this rule will result in the team not being allowed to play. This will be strictly adhered to. We also ask that in the case of a non teacher mentoring the team, the school contact the PPUI to give their permission for this to be the case.
