National u-16 Matchplay @ Royal Meath

Keep up to date with proceedings

National u-16 Matchplay @ Royal Meath

Update at 4pm

The first day of action is complete in the National u-16 Matchplay @ Royal Meath and after 3 rounds of excellent play we have our semi-finalists in both the Cup and Plate competitions.

The First semi final will see Dylan Hudson of St. Patrick’s in Enniscorthy take on Kieran Mills of Collins. Our second semi-final will see an all Cork affair with Iain Aherne of Ballinlough take on Glenn Towler of St. Anne’s. Glenn is the only one of the four Provincial finalists to make the semi-final stage. In fact the other three fell at the first hurdle losing in the first round. This just shows the standard of play that was on show today in Clonee.

The Plate competition saw the players who were defeated in the First round get a second opportunity to win silverware. The first semi final will see Evan carry of Castletown play Robbie Harnett of Deerpark. The second semi final will see Cillian Courtney of Deerpark play Sean Clerkin of Bellewstown.

Sunday’s action will also see the Girls competition get underway and it is sure to be an exciting day’s play with standards set to be very high.

All the action will get started at 9.30am and there will be updates here on the website and the links below will still be active. For all of the results and scores in today’s matches in both the Cup and Plate competitions see the links below and to see some pictures of today’s action check out the PPUI Flick page, which is available at the link below.
