Ladies Handicap Inter-Club Semi-Finals:
S/F 1: Cunnigar A vs Bellewstown
S/F 2: St. Bridget’s vs Riverdale
S/F 1: Cunnigar A vs Bellewstown
S/F 2: St. Bridget’s vs Riverdale
St. Bridget’s:
From: Curragh Road, Kilcullen, Co. Kildare
History:
A relatively young club, but with more packed into this generation than most clubs get in 2 or 3.
Their history is well-known at this stage. A club ecked out on spare land following months of community meetings. Club becomes integral to local community. Local man involved brings children to game, children dominate for years to come. The end.
On a more serious note, St Bridget’s has a wonderful museum of Pitch and Putt history and memorabilia and is definitely worth a visit

Squad:
Captain: Chrissie Byrne: Handicap: – You’re kidding right, what handicap? Scr:
The only thing that needs to be said is that tonight, this magnificent specimen of a Pitch and Putt maestro was acknowledged by her local community in their awards ceremony. How often does that happen? Rarely. A fitting captain, leads by example and plays the game the way it should be – with a great smile on her face. Legend.
Margaret Keogh: (-5):
Has taken something of a backseat in recent times as life takes priority, but with a handicap of 5 Margaret is definitely a useful piece of artilary to counteract some of the higher handicaps the Bridgies will face over the weekend. A very skilful player in her own right, will be right in the thick of things when the tie gets to the business end.
Tara Dillon: (-1):
I was very surprised to hear that Tara rarely plays Pitch and Putt. Not knowing everyone’s ins and outs, these are the little things that you assume: that a player of her ability and success would be a regular competitor. Puts her achievements in even greater perspective.
Marian Byrne: (-1):
A legend in her own right, and still able to mix it with the best as she proved in this year’s National Matchplay Championship in Lucan. It would be great to see Marian back competing for titles consistently again.
A very witty customer, and a true master of the put downs, as I’ve found to my cost once or twice
Path to the Semi-finals:
Topped Group B Leinster, clinically winning their first two games to qualify.
Results:
Vs GCC (W) 6-0 @ RGSC
Vs Bellewstown (W) 6-0 @ Erin’s Isle
Vs Lucan (L) 4-5
Prospects:
They face a Riverdale side high on handicaps but low on experience. The simple question to be answered is how will they fare dealing with the high handicaps? It hasn’t been a problem thus far, ironically enough the one match they lost was to the team that was probably the best gross team out of the rest. Bruff is going to cause them difficulties possibly, given that the shots are going to be more influential here. It could be very tight, but they should prevail. Margaret’s 5 handicap could be a blessing in disguise. Favourites.
