Inter/Junior Handicap Inter-Club Semi-Finals:
S/F 1: St Anne’s v Lucan
S/F 2: Deerpark v St. Patrick’s

Lucan:

From: 12th Lock, Lucan, Co. Dublin

History:
A great perspective of Lucan’s history from the club’s own fantastic website:
http://www.lucanpitchandputt.com/content/aboutus.php

Squad:
This is an extremely talented squad. A fantastic blend of low-handicapped skilled players, high-handicapped ‘bandits’, youth and experience, these guys are perennial challengers for Dublin leagues, and Leinster and county titles both at inter and junior level.
Lucan are the team to watch this weekend.

Captain: Paddy Croke (non-playing)
Barry Aird (2013 Lucan Player of the Year Rank: T44): Handicap: -6:
Returning to the game in 2011 after a spell away, Barry Aird has quickly become a master of handicap Matchplay competition, reaching the final of the ultra competitive Lucan Handicap Matchplay in both 2012 (won) and 2013. Barry isn't fazed by big occasions as he proved when he collected the Lucan President's Prize in 2012.
Billy Blake (N/A): Handicap: -5:
An inconsistent sort by definition, but one of the toughest players to beat when in top form. Billy can claim a very rare feat throughout the Pitch and Putt world in winning back to back Captain's Prizes (Lucan 2003 & 2004). Billy has claimed at least one prize in Lucan every year for the past thirteen seasons.
Jay Condron (T18): Handicap: -11:
Jay is anything but a regular in the winners’ enclosure despite being one of the most consistent performers this season for the Inter Club team. Jay has been a member of the all conquering Lucan Dublin Junior League team for the past few seasons where he has come to adopt the ethos that anything less than victory simply won’t do.
Sean Gallagher (T16): Handicap: -4:
Hotly tipped as a star of the future, Sean made his breakthrough last season in capturing both the Dublin Intermediate Strokeplay and the Dublin Boys Matchplay titles. Sean has also represented Dublin at Under 16 level, tasting National victory in 2011. On his day Sean can shoot lower than anybody else on the team.
Dave Hayden II (6): Handicap: -4:
A former Dublin and Leinster Intermediate Strokeplay Champion, Dave has been an integral part of Lucan's successful Dublin Intermediate League teams for the best part of a decade, picking up five league titles and two runners-up medals in eight seasons. The reigning Lucan Intermediate Club Strokeplay winner also had the honour of representing Dublin last month at the inaugural County Challenge in Lough Owel, Westmeath.
M.J. Maher (17): Handicap: -10:
After a few seasons in the wilderness (2006-2011) due to injury, Mickey Joe has made a triumphant return to action over the past couple of seasons. One shouldn't been fooled by Mickey Joe's laid back attitude as he's one of the fiercest competitors in Lucan. His tee shot on the 14th in Ring Common against Bellewstown is on that will live long in his teammates memories.
Tom McMorrow (T65): Handicap: -4:
Tom proved the all in pitch and putt that he has what it takes to score on big occasions during the 2012 National Intermediate Strokeplay Championship in R.G.S.C. when he posted the lowest score for the opening 36 holes. Tom is also a superb exponent of Matchplay and reached the Lucan Scratch Matchplay final in 2012, eventually losing to Johnny Price.
Terry O'Shaughnessy (T18): Handicap: -9:
Underestimate Terry at your peril, this seasoned campaigner has seen and done it all. A prolific winner in Lucan club competition during the 2011 and 2012 seasons, Terry doesn't fear any opponent. When he hooks up his pitching, Terry can bring even the best Seniors in Lucan to their knees.
Kevin Redmond (T50): Handicap: -9:
Broke through along with Sean Gallagher in 2012, when he claimed the an impressive double of the Dublin Junior Strokeplay and Matchplay titles. Kevin has also featured for Dublin at Under 16 Inter County level. A player to watch, not only this weekend, but in the future as he will surely kick on and improve once his exams are behind him.
Gerry Ward (15): Handicap: -5:
The man who held the putt to book Lucan's place in the finals weekend, Gerry has been a regular member of the Lucan Intermediate League side over the past decade. Gerry's most notable success in singles competition came in 2000 when he claimed the Dublin Junior Strokeplay Championship. Gerry thrives on team competition and will be a player the rest of the Lucan team will expect good things from.

Path to the Semi-finals:
Winners of the very competitive Group D

Results:

Vs GCC (W) 6-3
Vs Bellewstown (W) 5-4
Vs Kilbeggan (W) 7-2
Vs Lough Owel (W) 7-2

Quarter-Final:
Vs Tipp Hills (W) 5-4. A very tight match against an outstanding Tipp Hills team, Gerry Ward won his match to put seal Lucan’s victory.

Prospects:
While they won’t fear anyone, I’m sure they would have preferred to avoid the St. Anne’s team in the semi-finals. This is a real clash of the Titans, between the two favourites for the competition.
Plenty of experience within the Dublin leagues, and a hugely competitive club calendar, this is a team on a mission. Slight favourites.
