Tullamore Pitch & Putt Club Celebrates Leinster Success for Amy Galvin
Congratulations to Amy Galvin of Tullamore Pitch & Putt Club on winning the 2026 Leinster Senior Ladies Matchplay Championship following a fantastic weekend of pitch and putt.
The championship took place across two venues, with the opening rounds held at St Bridgets Pitch & Putt Club, Kildare on Saturday, before concluding at Mc Donagh Pitch & Putt Club on Sunday.
Amy produced a series of outstanding performances throughout the competition. In the last 16 on Saturday, she defeated Siobhan Keely (Lucan) on a scoreline of 10&9 before overcoming Margaret Reilly (Oldcastle) by 4&3 to book her place in Sunday’s semi-finals.
In the semi-final, Amy faced one of the most decorated ladies players in pitch and putt, Geraldine Ward (Portmarnock). In what proved to be a superb contest, Amy showed tremendous composure and skill to claim victory on a 3&2 scoreline.
The final saw Amy take on Chrissie Sheedy (Ryston), who was aiming to win the championship for a third consecutive year and for the 13th time overall. Chrissie was also the local favourite, representing the nearby Ryston club in Kildare, only a stone’s throw from both championship venues.
Amy got off to a brilliant start and quickly established a commanding five-hole lead. However, Chrissie battled back strongly to bring the match all the way to the 36th hole.
Heading to the final hole, Amy held a slender one-hole advantage. When Chrissie narrowly missed her birdie putt, Amy was left with two putts for victory. Showing great calm under pressure, she safely laid up and her par putt was conceded, crowning Amy Galvin the 2026 Leinster Senior Ladies Matchplay Champion.
This is a tremendous achievement for both Amy and Tullamore Pitch & Putt Club, and everyone at the club extends their congratulations on a well deserved success.
