The National Foursomes finals will be played at Tralee for the first time ever. The National Mixed Foursomes were played in Co. Kerry once before – at Deerpark in 2009 when Chris Scannell (Collins) and his sister Siobhan triumphed on +14 in the versus par format.
Veronica Anglim & Adrian Anglim (Hillview) are the defending Mixed champions and the Clonmel couple’s title defence will be conducted on Saturday in the company of Bishopstown pair Eddie Delaney & Theresa Delaney. Veronica also won the 1st session prize at Lakeside in 2018 alongside clubmate David Cahill.
Reigning Munster champions Jamie Blake & Charlotte Blake will seek to build on their success at Riverdale earlier in the season. The Tralee siblings were also session winners in the 2024 provincial Mixed Foursomes at Bishopstown.
2025 2nd session winners were the Deerpark father and daughter combo Con O’Sullivan & Ciara Lowe. Con teamed-up with Killarney club colleague Eileen McCarthy (Deerpark) earlier this year, to fill second place, behind the Blakes at Riverdale.
Munster champions of 2025 Barry Morrissey (Raffeen Creek) & Anne O’Callaghan (Bishopstown) claimed a session win nationally two years ago.
Tralee’s Alan O’Connor & Catriona O’Connor were bronze medalists a year ago and will seek to make hay on home turf alongside 2025 runners-up Thomas Roberts & Josephine Tobin (Lakeside) who won the 1st session award in 2022.
2024 Munster runners-up Lesley Gilmore & Ian McCarthy (Bishopstown) are in the field as is Deerpark’s Eileen McCarthy who was National Mixed Foursomes runner-up two years ago alongside Darren Goodall. This time, Eileen partners Niall O’Loughlin.
Polished performers in Mixed Foursomes are 2015 and 2018 Munster winners Michael Fennell & Elaine Quinn (Lakeside).
Michael and Elaine were 1st session winners nationally at Riverdale in 2016 having been awarded Best 1st 18 at Collins a year earlier.
Tralee’s own Tony Blake & Lisa O’Connor came second at Collins in 2015 having won the Munster Mixed Foursomes at Fermoy in 2014. Tony and Lisa lifted the 2016 National 2nd session prize at Riverdale.
Following her Session prize win the recent provincial tournament at Riverdale with Eoghan Aylward, Gemma Martin now partners Hillview colleague David Hallinan.
2025 Munster second place finishers Jason O’Regan & Bernadette O’Regan were session winners nationally in 2024. The O’Regans are drawn with Gillian Morrissey (St. Anne’s) and Trevor Ahern (Collins). Gillian captured All-Ireland 2nd session honours at Larkspur Park in 2022 with Trevor’s nephew Dylan Ahern.
1st 18 winners at Ring Commons in 2014, John Treacy & Mary Murray (Rocklodge) won the Munster Mixed Foursomes when it was played at Tralee four years ago. John Treacy and Mary Murray are consistent Best Gross winners provincially, while Mary was a session prize at national level with her husband John at Bellewstown in 2019.
Three-time Leinster champions Ian Dillon & Catherine Dillon (St. Bridget’s) will fancy their chances as will 2024 All-Ireland runners-up Sean Minogue & Margaret Hennessy (Riverdale).
Current Leinster champions Leo Halpin & Tara Halpin (Rathfeigh) line-up with Fermoy’s John Cahill & Eleanor Walsh. Eleanor has an outstanding National Mixed Foursomes record. She won with Joe Flood in 2002 and has also been runner-up once (with Joe) and claimed Best Gross on four occasions (twice with Joe and twice with Kieran Kearney). She and new partner John Cahill lifted Munster Best Gross laurels this year.
2015 Munster Mixed Foursomes champion Bridget Shelley (with Joe O’Connor) now teams-up with Lakeside clubmate Ollie Leahy.
2011 winners over their home course, Daithi Sexton & Ailish Sexton (Fermoy) captured provincial Best Gross at Cunnigar last year and have also been successful internationally.
2002 National runners-up at Douglas John Carton & Kathleen Carton (Kilbeggan) were 2022 Leinster winners at Collinstown.
Third place finishers provincially on home soil, Peter Dunning & Margaret Forde (Riverdale) are paired with Fermoy’s Sarah Byrne, Munster Gross 2018 winner with Barry Morrissey and Munster 2014 runner-up (with James Devonshire). Sarah now links up with Mark Roche (Collins).
Audrey Donnelly & Padraic Sarsfield (MacBride) were crowned 2023 champions at Royal Meath while Lucan’s Michael Ahern & Adrienne Kelly were declared 1st session winners in 2025.
2006 and 2007 Gross winners Liz Quinn & Alan Hanlon (Collinstown) are back for another tilt at the overall title. Liz previously won overall, partnered by Paul Bray in 2001. She also collected Leinster Best Gross with Rene Jan Bloem in 2022.
55 pairs in all will compete in two shotgun sessions, at 9.30am and 1.30pm
