Lakeside Pitch & Putt Club played host to the National Gents Ranking Event over the weekend, with some excellent scoring and a closely contested battle for the leading positions.
John Walsh of Collins Pitch & Putt Club produced an outstanding performance to claim victory with an impressive aggregate score of 89 (-19), finishing four shots clear of John Cahill of Fermoy, who secured second place with 93 (-15).
The battle for third place was particularly competitive, with four players finishing level on 94 (-14). Paul Sweeney (Hillview) secured third place following a countback on the second 18 holes, ahead of Christopher Gallagher (Lucan), Brian Cahill (Riverdale) and James Cleary (Larkspur Park).
While the countback determined the third-place finisher for the event, all four players will receive an equal allocation of ranking points towards the two season-long ranking lists, reflecting their identical aggregate scores.
