The 2013 National Under 16 Girl’s Strokeplay Championship got underway at 9.30 with the rain falling steadily, within about fifteen minutes the rain became a down pour but the news coming in from the course belied that fact. Una Brosnan from Claycastle carded a 24 for her first nine and as the rain eased she improved to four under after 18 and this having carded a bogey on the 18th. She was followed by Amy Galvin (Tullamore) who carded a level par 54 and Aoife Mahon (Lucan) on 62. The second round produced even better scoring as Una added a  48 which included a 5 on the 18th for a sparkling return of 98 or 10 under par. She was followed by Amy Galvin who added a fine 49 to give her an overall score of 103 while Aoife Mahon (Lucan) finished third.
